The Way, The Truth, and The Life
Exposition
Life apart from God always raises the same quiet question: What is life, really? The world offers its answers—success, pleasure, approval—but none of them settle the ache inside. Scripture cuts through the noise: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36 KJV).
For those who don’t know God, life can feel normal enough, yet it’s like walking through fog. You can move, plan, and chase dreams, but the deeper purpose stays hidden. It’s a kind of blindness—living in a dim room without realizing a brighter world exists just beyond the curtains.
For those who do know Him, drifting from God brings a different kind of emptiness. It’s not fog—it’s shadows. You remember what light feels like, so losing sight of it hurts more. Prayer feels dull, Scripture feels distant, and joy feels thin. The soul knows something is missing because it once tasted more.
Yet into both fog and shadow, Jesus steps with a clear and final answer to the question “What is life?” Life is fully Him. He reconciled our sin, tore down the wall between us and God, and opened the way back to the One who made us. The Creator who spoke the universe into being stepped into that creation to restore us. In doing so, He didn’t just show life—He became our life.
Life is not something we construct, earn, or discover out in the world. Life is a Person. Life is Jesus, who brings us home to God. And because Jesus is God, the source of all things and the sustainer of every breath, He is not only the giver of life—He is life itself.
In Him, the fog lifts. In Him, the shadows fade. And the question “What is life?” finds its truest answer: Life is Christ, and Christ is ours
